A reach with IBC ‘Türkiye' 05 August 2003

 

The beneficiaries have reached to their 168 houses that were built by IBC and Duzce municipality by a ceremony.

The constructions of the permanent houses that have started following the 1999 earthquake are coming to a finish. The 168 beneficiaries for the permanent houses that are being built by IBC and Duzce Municipality have been nominated with a ceremony at Beyciler. The lottery was done with the presence of Duzce Governor Cengiz Bulut, Chief of Staff Colonel Varol Kutlu,Duzce Mayor Ruhi Kurnaz, Ex Kandilli Observatory Earthquake Reaserch Institute Director Prof.Dr. Ahmet Mete Isıkara, IBC President Recep Uker and many Duzce citizens.

IBC's Board of Trustees Member and Duzce Project Coordinator Ugur Gungor stated that they were happy to reach to the point of handing over the houses and providing houses to the community. Prof.Dr. Ahmet Mete Isıkara stated that it should be an example for the community to build earthquake resistant houses and added “If you respect the nature, the nature will have respect towards you. The earthquakes do not kill people, but the constructions do. Therefore these houses should be foreseen as an example. We have paid a lot with the idea that we can gain from the sky. We can save lives by constructing houses resistant to earthquakes”. The Governor expressed his good will for the beneficiaries. Following the other speeches made the lottery took place with the presence of the Public Notary.
