Mother bird builds the shelter ‘Posta' 06 August 2003

Duzce earthquake victims are working in the construction of houses that are supported financially from USA . Every morning the men run after the household income and the women to the construction site with the dream of their smoke rising chimneys.

The earthquake victims whom lived the 7, 2 Richter scale earthquakes on 12 November 1999 in Duzce are in the dream of moving into their houses. Now their dreams are coming true, because they are building their houses themselves. They are working on the 168 , 89 square meters of houses that are being built with the provided funds from the aid foundations of America .

They hardly get tired. The beneficiaries of the houses come to the construction site every day and participate to the works in solidarity. The men leave the house for household income while the women leave for the construction site. The “Motherbirds” say that they are extremely happy for that they are building their own homes. The men gather up in the construction site after leaving their works and take over the heavy jobs. Building their homes on one side while their children are been taken care of, they say that “We hardly feel tired because we are dreaming for the day that we will move into our houses” Each brick is laid carefully for the wall keeping the past lived sorrows outside.
